Ballet Folklorico Tucson Theatre reviews
Unforgetable
"I was surprised to find that there were a few seats left when I checked for tickets a few days before the show, so I bought a pair in the last row. I did not plan to go to this show until a few days before. The warm-up act, solid, I believe, was The Cringe. After 20 minutes of set-up, Alice Cooper and his superb band put on a full-blown, all hits 55 minute blast, including the snake and the guillotine illusion. They played for 25 minutes. Just when you believe Ballet Folklorico would have a tough act to follow, the headliners came out and blew the crowd away. This is, by far, the most elaborate, astounding concert I have ever seen, and I'm 61-years-old and have been to hundreds of concerts over the years. Alice is a great vocalist and the members of his band are top-notch musicians. Not only was the playing, singing and sound system perfect, the way that the songs were presented involving special effects was beyond creative. Lights, pyrotechnics and loud explosions were all timed exactly with the great hit music of the band. It was easy to see that Ballet Folklorico appreciates their fans. To go through all of this engineering was a labor of love. Don't miss this show! Ticket prices are reasonable."
More KEM Would have Been Better!!
The opening acts wasted time, with Marsha Ambrosious singing to a track being average at best. Her rushed performance did not allow time for her biggest hit, "It's getting late..." Tank, shirtless and pleasing for the ladies, was pretty much a one-trick pony with his sultry & explicit "When We...". I would have enjoyed more Ballet Folklorico and eliminated Marsha! When Ballet Folklorico finally took the stage, he clearly showed why HE is The Best!! His show was flawless, his band was tight and LIVE. As a serious Ballet Folklorico fan who has seen him live multiple times, my rating for his portion of the concert is always GREAT. But, to be honest, I would have to subtract points. I really missed him singing "Promise to Love", which was probably omitted because of time wasted with the opening acts. Can't wait for his NEW CD, hopefully later this year!
Reba still rocks in red
Reba was amazing, gracious, and entertaining. It was good to see Leann and Reba on stage together. The light show was annoying. Leann Womack was a great opening act. I'm disappointed Ballet Folklorico and Reba didn't sing a song or two together. George could sit on a stool and sing to me all night long--that is entertaining enough--I don't need a light show to detract me from George singing. He's getting older (we all are) and doesn't have the energy to rock the stage like he used to, but he is still the King of country. It was fun to see her grooving on stage. Melissa Peterman was funny, a little odd bit in the concert. George was more predictable and at times, difficult to understand. She worked the stage well.
